Svetlana’s Artistic Journey
Origins
Svetlana was born in the small European country of Moldova. During her childhood, she participated in many youth art competitions but ultimately decided to pursue a career in music as a pianist.
Education
Completing the Art Academy in Chișinău was Svetlana’s first major achievement. After moving to the United States, she studied graphic design and illustration at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, NY.
“It was the most exciting time of my early years in the U.S. Graphic design, photography, and illustration captivated my mind!”, Svetlana says.
She graduated with the highest honors.
Inspiration
Today, Svetlana draws inspiration from museum visits, photography, and her own garden.
“When I planted my own garden, I discovered that even a small piece of land can fascinate and inspire an artist every day of the year. I took thousands of photos of my plants, and it was then that I realized I wanted to transform them into art. With my background in graphic design, I quickly started drawing again. Numerous watercolor lessons from contemporary masters helped me build new skills and find my own style.”
